THURSDAY THRILLER

  Thank you for your participation this past week!  Carina and I enjoyed our first steps with getting to know you!  The energy and enthusiasm is palpable!  Our students are in great hands and very lucky!

This is my weekly newsletter. I'm not liking the format and will switch it up.  However, here is the first THURSDAY THRILLER!  I will color code items so you don't feel this weekly communication as overwhelming or adding to your stress level.  GREEN will be for items that need your attention right away. BLUE is for the FYI/HEADS UP items and ORANGE is for sharing a best practice or an interesting idea. These are just 'food for thought."  If you would like to try them or implement them, great! 

Nuts-n-Bolts

1.  Remember YOU ARE AWESOME!

2.  Hallway expectation summary:

    a. Be present

    b. Greet students and begin building a relationship

    c.  See Something, Say Something.  It takes all of us!

    d. Explain and model with students how they are to line up outside of your classroom if you are not in the room

    e.  Communicate with colleagues if you have a lab to set up,you need to use the restroom, etc

3.  Staff contract time is 8:15-3:45 -certificated, Classified varies

4.  Wednesday collaboration will be 2:45-3:45.  We will meet in the library each Wednesday.

5.  Communication will be sent out to families regarding the no coffee, energy drink policy for students.  We welcome water. :)

6.  We collectively agree to have students use a planner.  The planner can be one issued by the school or one a student brings from home; a 'hard copy' planner is what students need to use.

7.  Sign In/Sign Out for students to use the restroom, library, etc need to be completed on the form. The 'master' copy is in the staff workroom for you to make copies.

8. GNN-we will do announcements via GNN.  I will be the one doing the announcements.  They will be quick.  Flag salute, announcements, etc. Tuesday the 3rd at 8:55 Will is going to send a link for you to click on.

9. Class room expectations turned in to Carina or Kim by Thursday end-of-day

10. GC will be taking your posters and working on them to come up with collective agreements for how we get the work done.

11.  Thank you for your questions and discussions regarding the 'tweaked' School Wide Discipline plan.  Let's keep taking notes and circle back.

12.  Please walk your students to lunch the first week

Food for Thought

As we begin a new year, we often find it challenging to take care of ourselves especially as we start a new school year.  Make sure and find balance between home and work; you are worth it and so are your loved ones!
