NUTS-n-BOLTS

1.  Thank you for the smooth inventory of Yondr pouches.  If you have feedback on the process, please let me know.

2. Today, we had several students wandering the hallways with excuses like, “My teacher said I could get a yearbook signature” or “My teacher said it was okay to be with my friends.” When asked why they were out of class, these were the reasons we were given.

Unfortunately, today we also had an incident of vandalism in the 8th-grade bathroom, along with a staged fight recorded during 3rd period in the girls' 8th-grade bathroom, resulting in 5 student suspensions. To address this, tomorrow only the 7th-grade bathroom will be open. The other bathrooms will be locked. Students will be allowed to leave class one at a time with a pass—no wandering across the hall to check on a friend, see a teacher, or get a signature in their yearbook. Lastly, students will not be allowed to have their phones in class. We need to be united in holding these expectations.

3. The end of June and July classrooms will still be undergoing cleaning, so please the custodians out by steering clear of the building and enjoying your time off! :D

4.  Don Davis will be stepping in while Nicole is on maternity leave. We plan to meet with him several times prior to Peanut's arrival.

5.  6th grade orientation and Back to School event will be on August 14th. If you would like to help out with 6th grade orientation, please let Nicole and me know.

6. When the master schedule is finalized, we will send it out. Our goal is to not spend all summer on it.🤞

Something to Ponder

We’ve all had those days, weeks, or even months when it feels like one thing after another is going wrong, and you’re frustrated, ready to crawl under the covers and not come out (maybe with a few too many sodas along the way 😉). Honestly, I think podcasts just find me, and this one—Mental Toughness—definitely found me. Or maybe the Good Lord just dropped it in my lap and said, “You need this!” We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for, and we can do hard things. If we focus on even the smallest goal or the tiniest window of opportunity, those little wins will add up and give us momentum.

This is a bit of a longer podcast, so maybe if you’re on a drive, taking a walk, or lounging on the couch, give it a listen and see what you can pull from it.

Coach Steve Magness is a whistleblower, an author of five books, and a performance coach. He coaches from his own personal struggles that led him to dive into the science of mental toughness.

I really enjoyed listening to his story and the three things we can all do to build mental strength—especially when we don’t think we’ve got it in us.

You will find SEVERAL GOLD NUGGETS in this podcast. :D
