Our own CARINA!!!  She is going to do a FABULOUS job with leading our District with online learning!!  GO CARINA!!!

I would like to announce that Garrison will be receiving a half time AP.  Cesar Hernandez!
Cesar is the current AP at Green Park elementary.  He resumed that role a mere 22 days ago. :D  Cesar will be part time at Green Park and part time here at Garrison.

Cesar Hernandez was born and raised in Walla Walla where he attended
Sharpstein
and Green Park Elementary schools, Garrison Middle School and Walla Walla High School.
He received an Associates of Art’s degree from Walla Walla Community College a Bachelor’s
Degree from Washington State University and a Master’s in Education from Eastern Washington
University.
Hernandez has been employed with Walla Walla Public Schools for eight years,
including five years as a dual language teacher at Edison Elementary.
“Mr. Hernandez has a solid reputation for being an advocate for students and student learning,”
said Green Park Principal Rick Kline. “Not only does he possess the bilingual language skills
which are integral as Green Park Elementary transitions to a dual language school,
he will provide a cornerstone for outreach to parents and the community as we continue to build
relationships with our students and families.”
Hernandez is a volunteer wrestling coach for Edison Elementary and soccer coach at
Pioneer Middle School. He enjoys restoring classic cars. He and his wife Lizbeydi h
ave a daughter Kendra and son Cesar Jr.

WELCOME, CESAR!!!!
Pics from Carina and me.
Here are her lovely, cute dogs.  They look pretty relaxed and chill!

Isella was pretty proud of her new goggles. LOL

Axcel is not too sure about the book we are reading.  :D

NUTS-n-BOLTS
1. School and start up:
      a.  Hopefully you read the email I sent with the Board highlights
      b.  Visit the web page
       c.  Carina and I continue to work on schedules.  Again, we are placing students into cohorts.  We will run a
6 period day.  Teachers teach 5 of the periods with a plan.  I believe Keith Swanson (WWVEA Pres) sent
out possible schedules and planning minutes.
        d.  The parent survey was launched so we will receive feedback and information regarding which families
             request AM or PM
e,  I wish I could send a schedule to you that shows you exactly what you are teaching and which period.
I can't do that right now with so many moving targets.  Nobody wants to to receive a schedule then be
told, "Scratch that one.  Use this one.  Nope.  Throw that one way use this one."  IF we needed you to
teach something that you were not told you were teaching this past spring, we would have called you.
Now, AGAIN things could change.  Your patience and flexibility is needed which I think for the most
             is a no brainer...so THANK YOU! :D

2.  Timeline:
Within this timeline, Cesar, Carina and I will work to come up with communication to families, how we
will orientate our 5th-6th graders to middle school and devise a plan if we end up going remotely.
Again, please ask questions.  Some of you have come in to meet, called and emailed.  PLEASE reach out!

3.  New materials
Social Studies materials are being delivered. Thank you, Armida!!!
Not new materials but CLEAN staff room buckets.  Armida spent hours cleaning each individual bin.  She is
amazing!

4.   WIAA announced what high school sports would like with a tentative calendar.  We don't know if MS will
follow the same calendar.  WIAA has to come out with those guidelines.  Stay tuned.

5.   Wednesday, July 29th will be a Zoom meeting for anyone who wants to attend and ask questions or
just see people. :D  May not have all the answers but we could sure try and answer the questions you
may have.  OPTIONAL .    Wednesday, July 29th at 11:00

SOMETHING to PONDER
This was on my calendar today.  The words resonated with me because changing my outlook
gives me way more positive vibes and makes me feel like a bad a**! :D   Regardless of how
school opens WE CAN DO THIS!  There will be ups and downs but THE SUN WILL SHINE on
GARRISON (and Walla Walla Public Schools). :D
HUMOR
Things we have all said not only as teachers but maybe as a parent/aunt/uncle etc. Made me
giggle. :D
