The Color Run was a HIT!!! Thank you to Yaneth, Becky Jo, Christy and Addison for ALL THEIR PLANNING and HARD WORK!!! Sources of Strength and ASB students helped with the event.  We had many staff and community members who participated!  THANK YOU!!!!

Nuts-n-Bolts

1.   Thursday, May 11th at 6:00PM we will welcome incoming 6th grade families to GMS.  It is an informational meeting for parents and students. If you would like to attend, let me know. :D

2.  Teacher Appreciation Week next week!!!!  Thanks to ASB, our Kitchen Staff, parents and WWVEA  a great week has been planned to celebrate our certificated staff!

Monday:  Lunch sponsored by WWVEA

Tuesday:  Dessert Bar sponsored by GMS Families

Wednesday:  Teacher Breakfast from 7:45-8:15.  It will be a buffet style with seating in the library.

Thursday:  Drink and Snack Cart

3.  Certs:  Thank you for communicating your preference on the EVAL appointments.  Please send your evaluator -Scott or me-your Danielson 8 rubric.  Friday in the afternoon is a time you could use to upload your student growth goals evidence.

4.  Tomorrow we will meet in the library at 1:00.  The goal is to share with you a little bit about the Student Summit from the 19th of April, share students responses to questions from the EES survey and explain the next steps.  Classified Staff- we will meet right after this staff meeting

5.  SBA ELA testing next week!! Whoop!! Whoop!!  We will send a survey out after SBA testing to get feedback on this schedule.  The goal was for students to test with their ELA and Math teachers, longer blocks with less make ups. Your feedback will help us (admin) know if we met, were close or fell short of the goals of this schedule.

6.  May 18th is the drama club's evening performance.  May 19th we will have two performances-one before lunch and one after lunch.  We will break the performances into 'first lunch' students and 'second lunch students.'  Scott is working on the schedule.

7.  ASB is working on creating a student store.  We will replicate Pioneer's since they have done the leg work for what can and can't be bought and 'sold' in the student store.  Pioneer has used coins as their currency to hand out to students who are doing the right thing, helping others, following the collective commitments.  There will be guidelines and a quick presentation to staff as well as students when it is ready to open. Will it be this year?  Slim chance but maybe.  For sure for the fall of 2023.

8.  Next year we will be able to have a concession stand at games.  When concessions are sold outside of school hours we do not have to follow the guidelines set out by Nutrition policies.  It's a way to make money for clubs.  More to come on this.  Still no eating in the gym so we will have to figure all of this out.  Just giving you a heads up for what's to come. :D

9. If you have 8th grade students who are failing, what can we do support them and you?  I understand motivation and attendance are HUGE HURDLES.  We can send Yaneth on home visits, which she has been doing to these families to make another connection and find out how we can help to remove the hurdles for their child.

10.  Erika Silva, our new science teacher, is ready to sub!!! She is available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.  Tuesdays and Wednesdays she is working at Coffee Cravings.
